"Negli ultimi anni mi sono ispirata alla donna-sola, riflettendo sulla natura del duetto tenerezza + disperazione e cercando l’origine della tensione, della malinconia necessaria o mancanza.

 Di lei m’interessa la sensualità della solitudine, per dettagli, che sottolineano l’impotenza o la fallibilità della memoria. 

 Se le ferite e le paure ci sono ma non si vedono, così è nell’opera, dove prima le incido e poi le nascondo (cicatrici). Penso che la memoria non viva nella pittura quanto nella poesia scritta, quindi per alcune paure utilizzo le parole riciclate assemblandole, in stile lettera anonima di un rapimento, in frasi dirette a contraddire l’immagine e a svelare le complessità di un’identità. Lavoro per passaggi. 

 Ogni passaggio è un’azione (rito) che ha uno scopo differente. Ogni azione crea uno strato al quale corrisponde la mè istintiva o la mè che rielabora e decide. Alla fine l’opera è macchina per viaggiare nel tempo passato + pagina di diario + chi vorrei essere, dunque un intreccio delle tre dimensioni temporali. Togliere è la non azione–azione che prediligo.

 Nel levare, il gesto è tormentato eppure rigenerante, benefico, e visto che l’intonaco già carnalizza la figura, procedo “lavandola” per averla + trasparente + idea + atmosfera o sensazione non interamente definita. La mia intenzione è quella di far emergere le ferite di prima. Nell' ultima serie di quadri indago la relazione fra donnasola + uomosolo vista come impulso fisico che sacrifica la comunicazione e viceversa.

 La bellezza inconsistente e di breve durata dell’innamoramento. Il confronto, la dipendenza, il capovolgimento dall’innamoramento di sé all’altro. Fino ai conflitti tra le due solitudini.

 Ora lavoro attratta da nuove forme, pensieri solidi, fatti di carta, rete metallica, stoffa e diversi materiali sui quali a volte disegno. Dentro ad essi nascondo (confidenze) piccoli oggetti o parole."

Omstreden fietsenmaker actief in België:
De controversiële fietsenmaker Onno Verduig, die in Nederland zijn beroep niet meer mag uitoefenen, heeft al zes jaar een praktijk in het Belgische Dendermonde. Ook hier maakt hij zich schuldig aan verkeerde diagnoses en onnodige reparaties.
Verduig, ook bekend als de ‘bandenplakker des doods’, werd in Nederland in 2003 uit zijn ambt gezet. In de tien jaar die daaraan voorafgingen, had hij bij ruim 26 fietsen onnodige reparaties verricht, variërend van het vervangen van een band tot het aanbrengen van een compleet nieuwe set versnellingen. In 2003 werd een rechtszaak tegen Verduig aangespannen, nadat hij onterecht de diagnose ‘doorgeroest tandwiel’ stelde. De klant zag zich genoodzaakt zijn fiets bij het grof vuil te zetten.
Anneke van Tuyl (51) bracht in 2002 haar fiets bij Verduig om een nieuwe bel aan te laten brengen. “Toen ik terugkwam, bleek mijn stalen ros ontdaan van alle versnellingen. Verduig vertelde me dat ze mettertijd toch stuk voor stuk zouden uitvallen.”
Toen zijn wangedrag in Nederland aan het licht kwam, toonde Verduig berouw: “Ik heb mensen onnodig leed aangedaan”, zei hij destijds in een interview met fietsvakblad De versnelling. “Mijn lijmsnuifverslaving is uit de hand gelopen. Ik voerde uitgebreide reparaties uit omdat ik dacht dat de fietsen erbij gebaat zouden zijn, maar ook om mijn grote lijmvoorraad te kunnen verantwoorden.”
Hoeveel slachtoffers Verduig in Dendermonde heeft gemaakt, is nog niet duidelijk. Wel kwam gisteren aan het licht dat een herenfiets ten onrechte is voorzien van een nieuw achterwiel.

Jean-Baptiste Monge 

Born June 11, 1971 in Nantes, is a French Fantasy author and illustrator. After 15 years in Britanny, he decided to continue his adventure in Canada, Montreal.

Biography

Jean-Baptiste Monge issued his first illustrated book Halloween in 1996, in collaboration with Erlé Ferronnière with whom he worked for 10 years ; the book has been published by Avis de Tempête, further renamed Au Bord des Continents.

In 2004, Jean-Baptiste Monge and Erlé Ferronnière agreed to end their collaboration, each willing to go it alone.

In 2006, he issued his first solo book, Carnet de croquis, archives de Féerie Tome I, illustration, texts and layout. He also participates in collective tribute to Regis Loisel "Dans l'ombre de Peter Pan" by Christelle Pissavy-Yvernault, by the French publisher Vents d'Ouest.

In October 2007, he attended FaeriCon ‘07 in Philadelphia (USA) in order to get contacts for the publication in the United States of A la recherche de Féerie Tomes I and II, Carnet de croquis as well as Celtic Faeries.

In 2007 and 2008, he worked for the collective books L'Univers des Dragons published by Galerie Daniel Maghen.

In October 2008, during the Utopiales, 9th edition of the International Science-Fiction Festival (Nantes 2008-10-29 to 2008-11-02), he received the Wojtek Siudmak Award 2008 for the cover illustration of Comptines assassines, Pierre Dubois's book published by Hoebeke.

The jury of Spectrum 16 (Kansas City 2009-03-02) has given special recognition for superior achievement to artists in each of eight categories. Silver Award for Book Illustration has been given to Jean-Baptiste Monge. The jury consisted of Kevin Brimmer [artist/art director Muller Bressler Brown], David Dorman [artist], Donato Giancola [artist/instructor School of Visual Arts], Steven Sanders [artist], and Robert Self [publisher: Baby Tattoo Books].

He was presented the Art&fact Award 2009 for his entire work by James Gurney (Dinotopia) during the Utopiales, 10th edition of the International Science-Fiction Festival (Nantes 2009-10-28 to 2009-11-01).

In 2009, Jean-Baptiste Monge participates in a project still confidential as concept work for Sony Pictures Animation. He also participates in the collective "Souvenirs de films", published by Le Lombard, performing his version of the movie poster of the film Willow by Ron Howard.

Feb 2010, study tour to Canada for a future book with plans to move there. 

Apr 2010, he has finished some Chara-design for a computer game, for a French compny : Faery Legends of Avalon - by Spiders.
