CLASSIC 1950s MARRIAGE & RELATIONSHIP EDUCATIONAL FILM "MARRIAGE: TODAY...

One of a series of films based on texts by Henry Bowman called Marriage for Moderns, this campy 1950s film "Marriage: Today" is full of unintentional comedy. Featuring some ridiculously backwards ideas about what a healthy relationship is, and how young couples can build lasting marriages by a clear analysis of their mutual aims and cooperation in achieving them. One couple in the film, university graduates, have many interests in common. The other couple, a business man and a teacher, center their mutual affection on their son. The film is set in post-WWII America, where the post-war recession caused unemployment and great uncertainty -- thus the beginning of the film is about this "difficult" situation.
